Tech Tip: Canvas Dashboard

I really like the Canvas Dashboard. It is really easy to customize the Dashboard as well. Once all of my classes are published for a semester, I usually color code each class. This is just a fun way to incorporate some flare into the Dashboard. I took Laura's advice and turned off the color lay feature for the courses. My professors have pictures set up so now it is easier to see what exactly the professors wanted to be shown! I also like how you can rename the courses. Usually they have the Course ID number and it can get confusing when all of your classes are HR. I really appreciate the Canvas Dashboard for being easy to navigate. D2L was confusing at times but Canvas was a good system to switch to.

Feedback Thoughts

Seven Ways to Crush Self- Doubt in Creative Work This article immediately made me think about the ways that I use self-doubt in the different areas of my life. Comparing myself to others is something that I unfortunately do too often. The comparison trap is easy to fall into. Realizing that comparing myself to others is the culprit and self-doubt isn't, it opens up my mind a little. It makes me take a step back and look at exactly what I am doing. Setting goals that are within my control is another thing that I need to be more aware of. It is easy to get caught up in making goals that are a little outrageous. Acknowledging that some things are out of my control and using self-assessment and self-reflection are so important. These are all things that I need to better incorporate into my life and it will help me get feedback better as well. Self-doubt Silence the Critical Voices in Your Head Negativity is something that can really tear a person up. The negative and critical v...

Topic Brainstorm

Image
There are a lot of topics that I would think would be really interesting to write about. These are my top four. Using cats  to tell a story: I think that a creative way to retell a story would be through an animals point of view. The animal I would choose would be a cat. There are plenty of stories that include cats in them, so there would not be an issue finding a good story to use. The reason I chose cats is because I am a big animal lover myself. It would be very interesting to tell a story from a cats point of view because they have different characteristics and distinct personalities. Using cats to tell a story would allow me to learn more about how they were incorporated into Myths and Folklore. How cats tell a story Nursing home for Olympian Gods and Goddess : This would be a really fun Storybook to create. My Storybook would follow a nursing home that cares for some famous Olympian Gods and Goddess. The Gods and Goddess would then all be together playing some game ...

Week 2 Story: The Castle Surrounded by Sunflowers

Image
My mom has to go on a trip this weekend. She is going a far way away. Like usual, she asked if there was anything that she could bring back for us. Since I want her to return home quicker than usual, so that we could sew together, I just told her to bring me back a sunflower. They should be easy enough to come by so there shouldn’t be an issue.   Sunflower Days later, my mom arrives back at the house and she is kind of freaking out. She tells me and my sisters of her story of running into this giant beast. She described him as a giant bear that only walks on his back two legs. She said that he called himself Alexander. My mom then proceeded to tell me that she offered me up to be with him in exchange for the sunflower that she took. I am kind of peeved with my mom because offering me up like some present isn’t cool. I wouldn’t do that to her.   Alexander the  bear   Anyway, I eventually get to Alexander’s castle. It is giant! If I...

Reading Notes: The Three Roses, Part B

Image
This was a great story to read! The writing style is nice because it is easy to understand. There are no tricks or difficult language to comprehend. When writing my stories, I will use easier language in order to allow readers to understand exactly what is going on. I also like how this story has a mix of being told from a narrator and then also having dialogue between characters. I sometimes only do one or the other rather than including both. It is easy to get caught up in the certain way that you are writing, but being able to switch it up within the same short story will add variation which will be nice. The character Mary seems sweet. She enjoys the simpler things in life and does not demand much. Incorporating a character like her into my stories would be good because it is a good character. It can be entertaining to have negative and bad characters, but having a nice character is essential as well.  Roses  that Mary wanted Once Mary got to the...
