My name is Hannah and I am very excited to start this class! I took Epics of India awhile ago and I loved it! I hope that everyone had a great summer and I look forward to reading all of the blog posts!
My name is Polyphemus and I have an unfortunate story to tell you. This story revolves around the reason I have this giant bandage over my eye. These men... Odysseus and his men. Let me tell you my side of the story and how I got injured. The Cyclops It was just like any other day. The same routine that I always do. I left my cave to complete some tasks. I soon arrived back to my cave in order to milk my ewes. That is when I saw the men that had been hiding in my cave. I questioned their presence and they begin to tell me to fear the gods. My short temper did not handle this well. I filled with rage that they obviously think so little of me to tell me what to fear in my own cave. After this, I grabbed two of their men so that they would fear me, but I ended up eating them for dinner. Oops. This might have been savagely, but I had to make an example out of the two men so that the rest of the crew would not treat me with such an attitude. This might have backfired. I ke...
Hi! My name is Hannah Rutherford and I am a senior here at OU. I am from The Woodlands, TX – which is just North of Houston. I absolutely love OU and couldn’t imagine being at any other university. Here at OU, I am a Human Relations major. I used to be pre-nursing but I quickly realized that nursing wasn’t for me and I was able to switch! Lucky for me, I am graduating in December! I am really looking forward to it, but I am also a little scared as well. My greatest accomplishment from last semester is that I got a 4.0. Hopefully I will be able to do this again in my last semester. Once I graduate with an HR degree, I hope to get my masters and become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I would like to work with kids in some way and I would love to incorporate therapy animals into my work. I am a firm believer that animals make everything better! Speaking of animals, I am an extreme animal lover. I have two dogs and two cats at home. My two dogs are Shih Tzus and they are named...
Growth mindset is a very interesting thought process that is applicable to every student. In some student environments and thought processes, it seems as if students are put into a mindset that challenges are bad but easy is good. In some instances this is the case, but when repetitive difficulty is lacking, then there is incomplete learning to the fullest potential. Carol Dweck has many interesting ideas in both of the videos. An interesting idea that I know that I have done before is finding someone that did worse so that you do not feel as bad for your own score or grade. This is an easy thing to do in order to boost your self confidence in a class, even if the grade was not good. When I was in band in high school, we would have playing tests and I often had this mindset. If I was not last then I viewed my playing test as a success. It is unfortunate that I occasionally thought this way because it limited my potential. With my time at OU, I have learned to focus on the fee...
