Topic Research: Nursing Home for the Gods

I have decided to use the idea of Olympian Gods and Goddess living in a nursing home. My plan is to set up the scene of the nursing home and then base which characters I want to have tell their story in my Storybook. Originally I thought that I would have four Gods/Goddess playing a game together and something is said that sparks a memory of a story involving them. The character would then take the time to tell the story from their point of view. Sort of like a "back in my day" retelling of a popular or favorite story of theirs. It crossed my mind to maybe have enemies be playing at the table so that it could create a heated discussion, but I will have to see which Gods/Goddess I end up choosing. As of right now, here are the stories/characters that I plan on including for my Storybook.

There is a lot of interaction between all of the Greek Gods/Goddess, so finding some that have been involved with one another should not be difficult.

My first story would revolve around Zeus. Zeus is the King of the Gods. He seems to have gotten around quite a lot, in numerous kinds of ways. He seems controversial so he would create some drama. Additionally, he seems like the kind of guy that would boast about his accomplishments. I'm thinking of telling the story of how him and his brothers decided who would rule what part of the world. Zeus got the heavens, Poseidon got the sea and Haides got the underworld.

Next, I would include a story that involves Hera. She is the Queens of the Gods. Along with being Zeus' sister, she is also his wife. She is a mean lady that seeks revenge, so having her tell a story from her point of view would be much different than any original version. She could talk about her relationship with Zeus or she could talk about her relationship with the multiple women that he slept with... or both! She seems very jealous so any other woman at the nursing home would be an automatic threat.

I plan on telling a story from Aphrodite's point of view. She is known as the goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite would surely bump heads with Hera. Aphrodite fought for the Trojan side in the war while Hera fought for the Greek side in the war. A story of her's that I could use is when she was crowned the most beautiful of all of the goddesses. This would create an interesting dynamic between all of the characters.

  1. I had already commented on your stories. I love your project plans. I think the idea of all the gods in a nursing home could be funny and have great stories at the same time. The image of glowing old people come to my mind when I think of these stories. Good luck with this project. It seems like it will be fun.
